Amazon Black Friday 2018 Guide
Amazon has no Black Friday ad. Instead, Amazon is well known for being the master of price matching. In addition to honoring just about every manufacturer approved Black Friday price drop out there, Amazon diligently price matches the best deals from everyone else's Black Friday ad. Combine that with a ridiculously huge inventory, the fastest most versatile shipping in the business, and a stalwart return policy, and it's no surprise why Amazon is at the top of our recommended list.
Pros for Everyone (including those WITHOUT Prime membership):
- The best source for Black Friday deals thanks to price matching
- Free shipping with no minimum
- Extended return policy (return items until 1/31)
- Amazon Visa Card (no annual fee) gives you $50 Amazon Gift Card and 3% cashback on all Amazon purchases
Pros for Amazon Prime members
- Free 1-month Amazon Prime trial (6 months for students)
- Otherwise only $12.99 for the 1 month option
- Free 2-day shipping on Prime Eligible items
- Pick standard shipping and get free Amazon credits
- Free subscription to Twitch Prime (and get free Black Friday loot)

Walmart Black Friday 2018 Guide
Walmart has the most comprehensive and best overall Black Friday ad, which is dozens of pages long and spans the gamut from video games and electronics to apparel and furniture. Their prices are very competitive and you usually won't find the same product for cheaper elsewhere barring competitor exclusives. As far as exclusives go, Walmart has quite a few. Walmart will probably have the absolute best price on a 4K TV as well as exclusive video game console bundles. Although most of Walmart's deals are available online, some will only be able to be purchased in-store.
Pros:
- The best, most comprehensive Black Friday ad
- Free 2-day shipping over $35 (no membership required)
- Free shipping promotion extended to marketplace vendors
- Buy online, pickup in-store option for instant gratification
- Extended return policy (items purchased after 11/1 can be returned as late as 1/10 for 15-day items and 1/15 for 30-day items)
- You can return online purchases in-store
- No receipt needed for a return
Best Buy Black Friday 2018 Guide
Whereas Walmart might have the best overall Black Friday ad, Best Buy has the best tech-focused ad. Best Buy is very competitive in pricing, and you'll find the prices to be comparable to Amazon and Walmart with a few exclusives of their own. Best Buy's strongest vanity Black Fridays deals are on their Insignia branded products (like their TVs), Apple products, and smartphones with contract. Although Best Buy does have some in-store only products, the vast majority of products can be purchased online.
Pros:
- The best tech-focused Black Friday ad
- Free shipping on orders over $35
- Free shipping with no minimum during the holidays
- Buy online, pickup in-store option for instant gratification
- Extended return policy (return items until 1/14)
- You can return online purchases in-store
- The best store at managing inventory
Dell Black Friday 2018 Guide
Dell is still one of the best known and respected computer brands. Although you'll be able to find pre-configured Dell computers on sale at other vendors, the most configuration options will be available directly from Dell. There are generally three ways to score the best Black Friday deal: (1) Limited time offer doorbuster deals, (2) sitewide Black Friday coupon codes that will stack on top of Black Friday instant discounts, and (3) Dell Outlet. Although Dell's computers will take the limelight, there will also be some really great deals on Dell monitors and 4K HDTVs with Dell gift cards.
The Dell Black Friday sneak peek flyer has been released.
Pros:
- The best Black Friday deals from any PC manufacturer
- Dell Outlet computers have the same 1-year warranty as buying new
- If you don't mind Dell gift cards, the absolute best branded TV deals
- Free shipping with no minimum order
- Extended return policy (items purchased after 11/1 can be returned as late as 1/15), excludes electronics, TVs, and accessories
GameStop Black Friday 2018 Guide
Sure, GameStop's prices on the most popular video games and consoles are just as good as everyone else's. However GameStop's best deals are not on mainstream titles. Whereas the other stores will discount games made in the last 2 years, GameStop will discount games that were made well beyond that. You will also find deals on pre-owned games and hardware, as well as bonus trade-in credit for any titles or consoles that you want to unload. GameStop has no extended holiday return policy.
Pros:
- Black Friday deals on the widest selection of games
- Discounts or bundle savings on preowned titles
- Bonus trade-in credit on games and consoles
- You can return online purchases in-store
Target Black Friday 2018 Guide
What Black Friday list is complete without the bullseye? Target is another brick and mortar vendor that puts out a multi-page Black Friday ad every year. Target is good at offering layers of stackable discounts. In addition to the already discounted deals in the Black Friday ad, Target generally offers a sitewide coupon code. For example in 2017, Target offered a 20% off coupon that could be used in December for anyone who purchased at least $50 worth of goods on Black Friday. If you shop in-store, you also have access to Target's Cartwheel app, which offers yet more stackable discounts on tons of products. Finally, if you have the Target RedCard, you have yet another 5% cashback discount that stacks onto everything else.
The Target Black Friday sneak peek ad has been released.
Pros:
- The best in-store shopping on Black Friday
- Keep an eye out for Target's sitewide Black Friday coupon
- The Cartwheel app has tons of stackable in-store only coupons
- Target RedCard (no annual fee) gives you 5% cashback
- Free shipping with no minimum during the holidays
- Buy online, pickup in-store for instant gratification
- Standard 90-day return policy for most items
- Extended return policy for electronics (items purchased after 11/1 can be returned as late as 1/15)
